Zakat, as one of Islam's Five Pillars, is a religious duty for all Muslims who meet the required wealth standards. The beneficiary must be impoverished and/or in need to be eligible for zakat. A poor person has property that is insufficient to meet his basic needs yet does not exceed the nisab criterion. We hope to keep this program going every year.
